Make Room for Loomy

Former ABC Carpet Alum Sara Weaver's line of sustainable handmade rugs is ethically-sourced from local artisans.

Sara Weaver understands that buying a rug is one of the biggest commitments you can make when it comes to decorating your home. Whether it’s finding the right design, quality, or price, there’s a lot to consider. That’s why she launched Loomy–as a solution to the fact that she couldn’t recommend a single rug that met all of her (very high) standards as a carpet buyer at stores like ABC Carpet and Nordstrom. Starting off with the reality that 94% of rugs sold today are made of plastics that can release toxic chemicals in a home, one of Loomy’s core tenets is that all rugs are made from sustainable, eco-friendly man-made or recycled materials. Weaver doesn’t stop there, either. To combat the worrying statistic that 5 billion pounds of rugs go into landfills a year (roughly 2% of the US total), Loomy 1) makes their rugs to-order so that there is zero waste and 2) uses materials that decompose in less than two years.

To further ensure the ethical and qualitative integrity of each rug, Loomy works only with factories that provide fair working conditions for the local artisanal weavers Loomy employs. As many as 90 hands and 150 hours (and generations of skill and tradition) can go into creating rugs that are as beautiful as they are practical.

The end result? Exquisitely designed rugs that look, feel and ARE different.
