What first inspired you to build Tia?
I was inspired after going through my own series of women’s healthcare issues in my early 20s that get me fed up with the healthcare lacking soul and not being designed with the female experience in mind.
Why is now the time for Tia to exist?
Women are breaking glass ceilings in almost every industry and sector of life from the corporate world to politics and more. It’s the time for our healthcare system, too, is rebuilt for women — enabling every woman to have agency in her healthcare decisions, big and small.
Walk us through an average day in your life:
(When I sleep enough…) I’m a morning person. I do my best thinking, writing and work first thing in the morning (with coffee of course). I like to spend an hour or so conquering the most deep-thinking task of my day first thing, then going to the office. I find it hard to context switch from meeting to meeting to actual work. I typically stop around 6pm and take a break — grab dinner with a friend, or go to a yoga class — then go home and work till about 11, then head to sleep!
What’s the biggest obstacle you are facing right now?
Which opportunity that you are currently working toward is most exciting to you?
We’re currently working toward launching the very first Tia Clinic.
Who do you look to for inspiration in your field and why?
Emily Weiss and Audrey Gelman — they are incredible leaders with big visions to change the culture that goes far beyond their individual “products.” And they are amazing omnichannel brand builders.
What’s one piece of advice you would give a fellow entrepreneur?
Learn how to delegate — but also how to fly at 10,000 feet and zoom down to street level when it matters.
What do you want to be known for?
I want to be known for making women’s health a positive thing instead of a negative one.
Words to live by:
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.” – Steve Jobs
